Every week of the year, hundreds of children aged three to eighteen throng to an impressive range of classes in a variety of dance disciplines as well as drama, musical theatre and singing. This offers them an introduction to lifelong pleasure. It provides every child with rich opportunities to develop co-operative learning, healthy bodies and a genuine delight in the energy and aesthetic of dance. To many, these classes are also the first steps along the ladder to a diversity of stimulating professional careers in the arts.
Bodywork Company stages an extraordinary array of dance performances in Cambridge theatres, from full-scale musicals to formal ballet, cabaret and pantomime. Our casts draw on former students, who may normally be busy professionals straight from the West End, right through our Performing Arts students, to many of the adult and child members of the Bodywork community. Bodywork also stages the annual summer Theatre School Show; a cabaret style performance by the Theatre School children, providing them the opportunity to perform on stage and demonstrate their new skills.
